Master in Gerontology
The Pruett Gerontology Center offers a Master in Gerontology as an interdisciplinary degree through its sociology department.
After finishing the gerontology program at ACU, you will be eligible to: assume a leadership role in residential care for seniors; plan, coordinate and administer private and public programs aimed at the elderly; teach undergraduate and graduate courses on gerontology; serve the needs of the elderly whether they be physical, emotional, social or spiritual.
ACU makes sure that each aspect of this interdisciplinary program adds to each student's education the depth and balance that the field is looking for. Fields like sociology, social work, psychology, family and consumer sciences, biology, government, communication, administration and recreation give these programs the required balance and diversity.
Graduate certificate
For students who wish to enhance either their academic or practical skills, we offer a Graduate Certificate of Gerontology. The certificate in the field of gerontology education, an 18-hour program, is a nationally-recognized credential.
The Pruett Gerontology Center spent more than 20 years building a lesson plan that concentrates on the study of aging, understanding the needs of the community and church, and creating a resource center that's able to serve information needs to organizations and people. The Pruett Gerontology Center presents seminars and educational meetings to address age issues that affect every facet of our community.
Undergraduate Certificate
Gerontology is a quickly growing field that can provide you with several diverse career opportunities, including prestigious research environments, public service firms, retirement home employment, and several other positions in agencies and programs which cater to the aging.
An advisor will be assigned to each student pursuing a certificate in gerontology to help provide you with an individualized program of study.
