Dental Hygiene Schools

At the Arizona School Of Dentistry & Oral Health, students learn the latest in dental technology as well as how to be compassionate leaders in the community. Doctor of Dental Medicine

Those designated with a D.M.D. have successfully completed their dental school program and earned this degree, which qualifies them to become a practicing dentist. Harvard University awarded the first D.M.D. degree.

The American Dental Association (ADA) does not differentiate between dentists with a D.M.D. or D.D.S., as they both possess identical qualifications. It is the prerogative of the universities to make decisions and determine what degree is to be awarded. Both degrees utilize the same curriculum requirements, as set by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. To graduate as a general dentist, at least three years of undergraduate study in addition to a further four years of dental schooling is normally compulsory. Either an undergraduate or dental school degree is accepted by the state licensing board and both degrees also allow you to practice general dentistry.

A.T. Still University - School of Health Management offers a Master of Geriatric Health degree, which allows it's students to become leaders in the geriatric health care field. The online program has been designed to meet the requirements of the modern day professional. 15 courses and 60 credit hours are required in this program.

Paramedic Schools

The ASDOH advanced education program in orthodontics enables a student to undergo 26 months of training leading to a Certificate in Orthodontics. The program teaches students to treat a wide range of orthodontic problems, cranio-facial anomalies such as cleft lip and palates, and orthographic or orthodontic problems through the usage of biological and clinical science education.

Offered in Mesa, Arizona, it's a full-time attendance education which also includes supervised clinical internships. In our courses we provide both clinical practice and academics. Only 54 to 60 students maximum are allowed to register per class. This small class size enables students to receive maximum supervision and guidance from faculty and staff, allowing them to imbibe the proper values and problem solving skills needed to provide the best patient care.

Physician Assistant

Under the supervision of a physician, Physician Assistants work as licensed health care professionals practicing medicine. Physician assistants give standard services that allow them to gather medical histories as well as placing of orders, performing physical exams, counseling of patients, proper interpretation of laboratory tests and assistance with surgery. Physician Assistants work closely with physicians, therefore they must be educated in a way that supplements and parallels physician training. The national commision on certification of physician assistants, in conjuction with the National board of Medical examiners, administers a national examination and by taking this exam, the physician assistants become certified graduates. To maintain national certification as a physician assistant, you must complete 100 hours of continuing medical education courses every two years and pass a re-certification test every six years. In order to gain a state license, students must graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program and complete their NCCPA Certification.

The Physician Assistant Studies program at the Arizona School of Health Sciences at ATSU is an entry-level program leading to a Master of Science degree program which takes two years and two months to complete. The Native American physician's assistant (PA) program is an alternative program offered at ASHS. The PA program is demanding and requires you to participate in supervised clinical rotations as well as full-time attendance. The program emphasizes both a strong theoretical background and practical observation and exercises. A master's level project along with a variety of clinical course work must be successfully completed in order to graduate from the Physician Assistant program. Students must complete their didactic and clinical coursework, as well as complete a master's-level project successfully, in order to graduate from the Physician Assistant program successfully.

The entry-level Physician Assistant Program takes 26 months to complete. When students graduate from the program, they are given a Master of Science degree. Individuals lay a solid academic foundation which will serve them well, as they can eventually progress into a clinical practice during the first fourteen months of the program. The staff and faculty work side by side with the students to help them develop the skills and attributes necessary to provide optimal patient care.

During the program students will go through a clinical period where the students will be required to attend clinical rotations in a number of medical fields. Students are supervised by clinical preceptors, get hands-on training with real patients, and learn from experts in a variety of medical professions.

As part of their graduation requirements, students in the ASHS PA program organize a final capstone project with the assistance of professors. The project design allows participants to express their sharp judgment, attentive self-sufficiency and rational judgment. The Native American Physician Assistant (NAPA) Track is intended to unlock a vocation as a physician assistant to a greater number of American Indian/Alaskan Native/Native Hawaiian students.

Occupational Therapy

Different activities and/or interventions are used in Occupational Therapy to ensure continued health and increase the opportunities for a successful outcome. Resoring functionality to a patient means helping the patient to improve their degree of independence when one is limited due to a traumatic injury, brain impairment, psychological or mental disease, a congenital learning disability or challenging environmental condtion. Occupational Therapists have a manditory need to work in an enviroment beside other health care professionals and work as a team.

The Occupational Therapy Entry Level Program by the Arizona School of Health Sciences consists of a twenty eight month period of coursework. Successful individuals who graduate the program have the chance to participate in the national certification exams for occupational therapists under the direction of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). The students will become an Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) officially, after the successful completion of this program. Also, most states will require that you be licensed before you are allowed to practice. These states typically base placement upon the NBCOT Certification Examination.

The Occupational Therapy treatment uses a holistic approach to healthcare teaching, covering the complete human scheme - the mind, body and spirit.
