Stanley Fish. You can read his column in the New York Times every Tuesday. He is a professor of law at Florida International University and dean emeritus of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Olivia Judson. Also in the New York Times, Olivia Judson is a favorite of the biology nerds. She has fascinating articles on everything from Dinoflagellates, Chronotherapists, and “Tiny Avatars”.

Paul Krugman. Ok..this guy is also a writer for the New York Times (btw- I don’t work there.). Paul Krugnan is a professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University. If you want/need to understand/to teach the state of international trade, economics, political affars, this is a great column for you.

Dan Vergano. This writer has a column called Science Snapshot in USAToday and writes about everything you need to know (or to teach) about science.

Mary Beth Marklein. Mary Beth Marklein also writes for USAToday (I don’t work for them either). Her column is education-based and really interesting for teachers, administrators, principals, or anyone that has an interest  in our education system. Find her column here.
