Located in downtown Washington, DC and close to Maryland and Virginia, the College of Professional Studies and GW Law School offer comprehensive paralegal studies programs which equip graduates to meet the high expectations of the most prestigious employers. Students who attend part-time classes in the evenings can earn a graduate certificate in eight months and a master's degree in approximately fifteen months.
The paralegal demand in America is growing tremendously. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs for paralegals will increase by no less than 27 percent over the next 6 years.
Attorneys have come to rely heavily on paralegals in order to complete their work. As a degreed paralegal, you will be poised to succeed in the new legal environment -- one of increasing responsibilities, compensation and prestige for paralegals.
GW has created a privileged paralegal education studies program, right in the heart of Washington, DC to meet and exceed all that is required of them. Part time students are offered classes in the evening. In as little as eight months those students will earn their certificate, or in a period of just under fifteen months a student can work toward his or her masters.
Graduates of the GW Paralegal Studies Programs possess the confidence and knowledge to obtain a position in the paralegal field which has become quite competitive. This current and relevant course of study covers legal specialties in Intellectual property law, international law and government law.
The courses are created to dovetail with current legal, government, business, financial, and international realities, and are instructed by reputable professors, including law professionals - both lawyers and judges. Highly regarded lawyers, professors and judges, who have real-world experience tailored to the needs of the legal, government, business, financial and international communities, will teach you.
CPS is privileged to offer students a paralegal program, which provides unprecedented access to the superior facilities of GW Law School's Jacob Burns Law Library. Students will be able to take advantage of the Law School's many special events, such as seminars, lectures and workshops. New ways of working together is always a goal of CPS and the law school.
For example, the GW paralegal studies graduate certificate (18-credits) has been designed to match the standards of human resources in the law, government, and corporate sectors.
The GW paralegal system affords students the opportunity to work at their own pace, since a mixture of classroom and Internet instruction is used.
