Lesley University originally began in 1909 as a school to train certified kindergarten teachers. The school first met in the home of Edith Lesley Wolfard in Cambridge, became Lesley College in 1945, and Lesley University in 2000. Today Lesley University offers programs in 23 states and online. The office of President Joseph B. Moore is currently located in Edith Lesley's living room where the first class of students met.
Lesley University is a private university with a total enrollment of just under 10,000 students and 176 faculty members. There are several student services offered to on-campus and online students. Financial aid counseling, career advising, academic advising, tutoring, and library services are there to assist students during their time at Lesley. 24/7 tech support is available for online students. For students on campus there are several clubs and extra-curricular activities to be involved in. Lesley also features NCAA division III athletic teams that compete in basketball, volleyball, and cross country.
Lesley offers traditional campus classes as well as online degree offerings. Their adult Bachelor's degree in Business Management is 42 credits and can be completed in less than one year. The entire degree is 120 credits but students can transfer in as many as 88 credits from another institution. The program prepares students to be business leaders of organizations in the public and private sectors. The curriculum is career and activity based, giving the student the opportunity to apply their knowledge to real life situations they will face on the job.
Sticking with its roots in education, Lesley University offers a wide array of master's degrees in the educational field. Degrees include math education, educational technology, instructional technology, science education, ecological teaching and learning, educational studies with an emphasis in adult learning, and advanced professional certification in autism disorders.
